Can you provide a reference that Candidate Obama said "I will unconditionally accept public financing"? All I can find is that he made a number of statements that he wanted to have public financing and that he would meet with Candidate McCain to negotiate how to do it. It appears that negotiation, for whatever reason, did not occur. McCain did not appear to want public financing.

News reports at the time that Obama said no to public financing seem to take McCain at his word that Obama broke a promise, but I cannot find that promise.

Although I strongly support the right of all, including lawyers, to comment on judicial actions, since such is part of the core of First Amendment values, and even lawyers have rights too!, I think it utterly inappropriate for a lawyer [and officer of the court!] to attack a court's rulings in that sort of setting, knowing that the people being attacked are really a captive audience. I have strong, strong feelings about what I think are stupid judicial acts, and there are very many, daily, but I would never attack a judge in that sort of setting. For shame, Mr. President.

The stated reason was that Barack wanted to tap average citizens, who showed a willingness to pitch in. Assuming it works out that way when a candidate pursues the option, it raises another question:

When is money good, and when is it bad in politics? If 10M is spent on a candidate, clearly there is a substantive difference between a)100 Fortune 500 companies spending 100K each, vs. b) a million individuals throwing in 10 bucks.
